Ever since I could remember, I knew I wanted to be a teacher. I use to play school with my younger sister all the time and we would take turns being the teacher. I always thought about what it would be like to teach a group of children and have a classroom of my own. Throughout my years in school, I was always the one student helping the teacher out. It seemed like the best idea for me was to pursue my dreams and become the teacher I always wanted to be.

When I first started out at Pearl River Community College, I was just taking basic classes, but as I began this year, I started taking some classes I would need for teaching. I took a class called Real Numbers System. This class taught me how to teach math to children and how to make math and other subjects fun. The teacher of the class was one of the best teachers I have ever had. She did not only teach us how to teach the children math, but she showed us different activities and things we could do with the children. I also had to make projects that related to math, that I could use in my classroom later on down the road. Another class, that I am currently taking is Art for Elementary Teacher at Pearl River Community College. This class is teaching me new and different things about art and how to involve art in the other subjects. I have thoroughly enjoyed my classes that I am taking  toward my career.

I plan to be an Elementary school teacher, teaching either Kindergarten or First grade, with my endorsements in reading and science. I will graduate in Spring 2012 from Pearl River Community College. I will attend the University of Southern Mississippi in the Fall 2012. My goal is to get my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees, both from the University of Southern Mississippi. After getting my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees, I hope to teach at an Elementary school somewhere on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
